Why Being In A Relationship Is Pointless If It’s Not With The Right Person
Being single is extremely difficult at times, but ending up with someone you're not meant to be with is even worse.
Being single is a blessing, not a curse, because it allows you to truly understand and learn about yourself. So why even bother settling down in a relationship if it’s not with your ride or die, someone who you love no matter what? You may know this already, but here are a couple of different reasons to reaffirm why dating is completely pointless if it’s not with the right person.
Relationships Are Complicated (Duh)

Relationships are complicated, and you may go through a couple (or a ton) until you meet someone who understands you.
And even though every relationship is different, there are lots of common issues that you may experience along the way.
You Shouldn't Always Be Doubting Your Relationship

Having doubts about your partner is normal, but too many may be a sign that you should end it altogether.
Here are some reasons why being in a relationship with someone who isn't right for you is pointless.
Being In A Bad Relationship Is Worse Than Being Alone

Lots of people continue to date someone simply because they are scared of being alone.
I know I've been here, and I can confidently say that there's nothing wrong with being alone, even though it may seem daunting at first. The single life is freeing and positive in so many different ways!
The Only Way You Can Truly Understand Yourself Is If You're Alone

If you've been dating guys one after the other since you were 13 years old, you've never had the chance to learn about your own true desires when it comes to a relationship.
Being alone can help you learn about yourself as a person, which is hard to do when you're always hopping from relationship to relationship.
You May Settle For Someone, Which Never Works Out

If you've been with someone for a long time, you may end up settling for that person in the long run.
You should never feel like you HAVE to be someone.
One-Sided Relationships Suck

It sucks when you are more in love with someone than they are with you, or vice versa.
If you feel like you're at your partner's beck and call, but they hardly even notice you, I hate to break it to you, but they probably aren't right for you. Because someone who truly loves you will drop anything and everything for you.
You Can't Change Anyone

People don't really change. Maybe they do at surface level, but it takes more than one person to make someone change completely.
If you feel like you're constantly making excuses for your partner or trying to change their lifestyle, you should consider finding someone who is more similar to you. Or, let them grow and mature without you for a little while.
...And They Can't Change You

If your partner is always pressuring you to change or to make decisions that you wouldn't normally make, they are trying to make you into someone you're not.
Once again, people don't change, and if this is a common occurrence in your relationship, maybe you should both just move on.
A Good Relationship Makes You Feel Valued

A good, healthy relationship with the right person should feel like a warm hug.
You should feel safe, secure, and valued because you love each other even when you fight or when times get tough.
A Significant Other Shouldn't Be An Accessory

Your boyfriend or girlfriend's main purpose shouldn't be to be your arm candy at work events.
If you're only hitting them up when you need something, or need a date somewhere, you're treating them like your favorite bag instead of a person.
Life Is Too Short To Be With Someone Who Isn't The Right Fit

Life is TOO short, y'all. Don't suffer through a relationship in hopes that things will change or that they'll treat you better one day.
We never really know when our last day is, so live life to the fullest.
On-Again, Off-Again Relationships Hardly Ever Work Out

Relationships where you're always breaking up and getting back together are awful for your mental health.
Let's call it how it is: This type of relationship is unstable. And even if you feel like you two are meant for each other, you probably just need a few years to grow and mature separately.
Your Partner Should Love You For You

Your partner should love you for you. They shouldn't want to change you or promise to be better. They should BE better for you, every single day. And vice versa, of course.
Because at the end of the day, we all deserve to find the yin to our yang.
Things Don't Magically Get Better

Some people stay in a relationship purely because they're banking on the fact that things will eventually improve, which isn't a good reason to keep dating someone.
And if your partner is always telling you that they want to "be better" for you, that's usually a huge red flag. Like, just do it already!
There's More To Life Than Being In A Relationship

Once again, being in a relationship is not the most important aspect of your life. Don't waste your time dating a-holes—find someone on your level.
Your happiness should NEVER rely on your dating status. You should be comfortable with dating yourself!
You Need To Be Patient

Even though it may seem like a daydream, finding the right person WILL happen, it's just a matter of time.
And even if you have to go through a couple of duds, the person of your dreams (hopefully) will enter your life when you're least expecting it.
