A Woman’s Breakup With Her Cheating Ex Was So Loud That A Stranger Got Involved

You know your relationship is problematic when even the neighbors become unwillingly involved in your business.

That's exactly what happened to one woman who shared a story about what she came home to find after finally ending her toxic relationship.

Redditor junkofthe_heart knew it was time to call it quits with her cheating ex, and apparently so did her neighbors.

She was surprised to come home one day to find a very pointed gift on her doorstep.

It appears she's not the only one who escaped the drama.

Lots of people are close with their neighbors, so it wouldn't be out of character for them to check in after hearing a nasty breakup.

In this case, the original poster (OP) had never actually met her neighbor which makes their interaction a little more hilarious.

After a particularly nasty fight that resulted in OP kicking out her ex, she came home to find a hand-delivered gift.

The neighbor who she had yet to meet had dropped off a homemade cake with a clear message.

The cake message reads "he was a dick" in wonky icing letters with a handwritten sticky note attached.

The sticky note simply says "Enjoy - Austin" and what seems to be his unit number to identify where he's from. Some people on Reddit were immediately suspicious of Austin's intentions.

Redditor shokzer pointed out that the unknown Austin may have had ulterior motives after learning that OP was recently single.

But OP handled it in good humor and said, "Even if Austin is trying to make a move, I have self-control and cake. Unlike my ex. Who doesn't have self-control. Or a cake." Touché.

Still, people were convinced that Austin was shooting his shot with the cake and they let OP know.

Again she joked it off and responded, "I guess the only solution is to [hook up] with Austin now," before clarifying that wasn't actually going to happen.

Not everyone was as skeptical of Austin's gesture and some people were quick to defend the baked gift.

Redditor gb4efgw commented to point out that the neighbor had probably heard quite a few similar disruptions in the past and may have related to OP's struggle of being cheated on.

In the end, people were impressed with Austin's apparent baking skills and generous attitude, leading Abieticacid to ask, "Is Austin single?"

But OP cleared things up by saying, "I think Austin is taken, but it was definitely a nice gesture." Too bad, Austin seems like a keeper!

The truth is that apartment living can put you in close quarters with strangers. Not every one of them is going to pass you by without stopping to care once in a while. Every now and then, it's nice to be that person too.
