It’s the kind of disaster you can hope only happens in movies, but unfortunately, it really happened to a 30-year-old woman named Colleen.
Colleen shared a TikTok video detailing her experience
Colleen Le, who goes by @colleeeniie on TikTok, shared a video detailing the messy drama of her relationship with her boyfriend.
Her story was so shocking that the clip immediately went viral and started racking up millions of views.

Colleen’s clip currently has over 16 million views and 40K comments on TikTok from stunned viewers who couldn’t help but share their opinion.
Her doomed love story isn’t the traditional kind because it involves an organ transplant.

She also spoke to Buzzfeed after her story went completely viral across multiple platforms online.
He was already sick when they met
Speaking to Buzzfeed, Colleen revealed that she met her now ex-boyfriend in 2015. He was always open with her about his medical condition.
“At the time we met, he was already going through peritoneal dialysis, which meant his kidney function was already at less than 5%.”
They had only been dating for a few months
The couple had only been dating for a few months when his health complications escalated.
Colleen recalled, “I felt like it was urgent, and he needed a kidney as soon as possible.”
He encouraged her to look into getting tested to be a donor
Colleen admits that while it was her decision to become her boyfriend’s donor, he certainly had some influence on her.
She said that it was him who “pretty much opened the door” for her to go and get tested to see if she was a match.
She was a positive match
Colleen’s ex-boyfriend even provided her with brochures containing contact information in case she wanted to get tested to be a donor.
Seeing her boyfriend’s deteriorating health, Colleen decided to get tested, and she was found to be a match.
Colleen decided to donate her kidney to save his life
Ultimately, she decided to donate her kidney and explained her reasoning was only to improve her then-boyfriend’s quality of life.
She told Buzzfeed, “I saw how his day-to-day was and how much he was struggling health-wise, so that already convinced me to want to help him the best way I can.”
They underwent the operation together
After Colleen had made the significant decision to go through the surgery, the couple went through the operation and began the lengthy healing process together.
Things seemed relatively normal, and trouble didn’t start until seven months after the surgery.
7 months post surgery he sowed up at her house unannounced
Colleen explained how her ex-boyfriend showed up unannounced at her home one night after being away at a bachelor party.
He admitted he had done something he couldn’t take back.

He told her that he had cheated on her.
Colleen recalls, “My initial reaction was hurt and betrayal.” She was especially confused because, according to her he was a “hardcore Christian” who had “always stuck to his morals.”
She felt backstabbed and taken advantage of
She never expected that he was capable of cheating, saying that it shocked her how easily he could betray her after everything that she had given to their relationship.
Colleen added, “I felt incredibly backstabbed and taken advantage of.”
She gave him another chance
Despite being heartbroken, Colleen tried to work through her ex-boyfriend’s infidelity issues.
She even decided to give him a second chance in the relationship, although, looking back she admits to having regrets about forgiving him.
Things came to a boiling point
She says, “Honestly, thinking back, I don’t know why I thought giving him another chance would work out our relationship when my trust in him was completely shattered.”
Even though Colleen wanted to pretend it didn’t happen, things would come to a boiling point a few months later.
He was very religious
Colleen recalls a particular disagreement with her ex-boyfriend when they argued over the phone.
Suddenly, he wanted to stop talking to one another and read the Bible together. She said she’d prefer to continue talking things out, and it didn’t end well.
He broke up with her and blamed his religion
The ex-boyfriend was “triggered” so much by her response that he “pretty much ” broke up with Colleen right there.
Colleen remembers him saying, “If God wanted us to be together, then we’ll find a way back together in the end,” before he cut her off completely.
He cut her out of his life
Colleen’s ex cut her off by hanging up the phone, blocking her phone number, and all of her social media accounts.
In one comment, Colleen says that she hasn’t spoken to her ex in over five years.
They haven’t spoken in 5 years
The last time Colleen spoke to her ex was over five years ago when he reached out a few months after ghosting her around the anniversary of their transplant surgery.
She decided not to respond because, as she said, “I felt like he only reached out to me over guilt.”
Colleen thought they were going to get married
Understandably, the young woman felt like she hit a low point after their breakup. Her feelings were worsened by the fact that she had donated her kidney to him.
She said, “I really thought I was going to spend the rest of my life with him and loved him so much that I saved his life.”
She wouldn’t take back what she did
Colleen continued, “Just the fact that he cut ties with me so easily and made me feel like I never existed in his life was really hard to get over.”
Even after everything, she admits that she wouldn’t change what she did.

“Despite the outcome of everything, I still wouldn’t take back saving his life.”
Years later, she was inspired to share her story on TikTok after seeing people share similar personal traumatic stories about their relationships.
The response has been overwhelming
Colleen admits the response to her clip has been overwhelming.
She said, “I didn’t think it was going to get viral the way it did. Most of the responses to the video were really positive, heartfelt, and sweet, and some have said that it gave them hope. It feels amazing to know that my videos are giving them hope and having them believe that despite all the hurt, everything will be okay in the end.”
