Do Landlords Deserve This? Renter Fills Holes In The Walls With $1 Soap
Renting a place is tricky. You want to add your own little flair to your humble abode, but you don't want to have to change everything back when you move out.
Well, here's a trick for covering the holes in your walls to make your move easier and, hopefully, get your security deposit returned.
Elise Is Moving Out
Elise (oprahsharvestday) posted a video on TikTok that went viral and has garnered over 1 million views.
In the video, she shares a trick to cover holes in walls during her cleanup.
What's The Trick?
In true DIY fashion, Elise scrubs a $1 bar of Ivory soap over the holes in the walls.
And the wall seemingly looks untouched! Just like her landlord wants it!
Why Do This Though?
In her video, Elise explains her actions.
She said, "Using $1 soap to fill in all the holes in our walls so we can get our security deposit back." She continues by saying, now her place "smells like a hotel."
What's A Security Deposit?
For those of you who don't know, when you're renting a house or apartment, there's a security deposit given to the landlord.
It's an agreement that says, "Hey, I won't damage the house while I live here!"
Getting Your Security Deposit Back
And if the house is damaged, then the landlord uses the security deposit to fix the damages.
And if there are no damages, the money can be refunded to you.
TikTokers Comment Other Useful DIY ideas
