But one woman on TikTok used the least assuming product you own—a lint roller—to test for her boyfriend's unfaithfulness. Now, users are debating whether it's clever or crazy.

And that's why the lint roller was born. The sticky surface is perfect for picking up unsightly pet fur and lint on clothes, but, one woman found another unexpected use for it.

Andrea Lopez, also known as @andrea.lopez44 on TikTok, recently went viral for the unique and humorous way she used a simple lint roller to determine if her boyfriend was cheating on her. The TikTok has over 17 million views and 3.6 million likes.
She captions the post with, "He has some explaining to do."
Here's How To Do It
The TikTok itself is short but fairly straightforward. Andrea begins with a clean lint roller and goes into a room that her boyfriend (and any other uninvited houseguests) would frequent, such as their bedroom or living room.
"Ladies, if you want to find out if your man is cheating on you, get yourself one of these and roll it all over the carpet like this," Andrea says.
Lint Rollers Shall Reveal The Truth
After running the lint roller back and forth across the carpet multiple times, Andrea holds it up to the camera and not surprisingly, the roller picked up a lot of nasty stuff hiding in the carpet. What she was looking for was any hair that didn't belong to her or her boyfriend (both of whom have dark hair), and that's when she noticed something unusual.
"What the f**k?" she says.

Near the end of the TikTok, the video cuts back to a shot of Andrea looking confusedly at the dirty lint roller—which is covered in strands of long red hair—and the caption "my hair is black."
So either Ed Sheeran made an unexpected visit to the house, or, her boyfriend is cheating and the red hairs belong to a mystery woman.

In case you haven't noticed by now, Andrea's TikTok was meant to be humorous and she even captioned it with "#prank" and "#funny."
The video went viral, and it did get people wondering whether Andrea had accidentally stumbled upon an easy and cheap method of detecting whether your significant other is cheating.

Even though it was a prank, some people didn't think Andrea's idea was clever. Many said that even if random hairs did stick to the lint roller, they could belong to previous homeowners, ex-significant others, or extended family.
They added that if anything, accusing your significant other of cheating with such flimsy evidence is a guaranteed way to torpedo your relationship.
