How Tinder Saved A Woman’s Life After She Was Stranded In The Wilderness

If I was to do a quick "word association" game with Tinder, I would think of terms like "gross", "creepy", "men who only want to hook up", and "all-around disappointing". Most of us have made a mistaken foray on the dating app, swiped for a bit, and then deleted it out of frustration.

However, proving to us that not all guys you meet online are bad, one woman used Tinder to save her life while she was stranded in the Norwegian wilderness.

Lonia and two friends packed up a camper and decided to take a scenic trip through Norway's remote Nordkapp region, the most northern part of the country known for its treacherous weather.

The group found themselves in a terrifying situation when freezing rain made the route they were traveling on the side of a mountain impassable. The camper was unable to keep traction on the downhill, but through heavy breaking and some snow packing, they were able to stop the vehicle.

While they were no longer sliding out of control, they were afraid that the camper could start moving again. Even worse, they were sitting ducks on the road and were at risk of being hit by another vehicle.

They desperately tried to contact emergency services, but they were too far away to help quickly. One of Lonia travel partners came up with the genius idea to use Tinder to get help, using this adorable photo of Lonia and a furry pal to attract matches who could help them.

It only took about five minutes between them matching for Stian to show up as a knight in shining armor—or, more accurately, a Nordsman with a bulldozer. He helped cut a safe path for the camper to drive on.

While it's unclear whether Stian scored a date with Lonia or not, I think it's fair to say that most of us would take the courteous hero out for a night on the town. I mean, at least we'd swipe right.
