DIY Christmas Decorations For People Who Aren’t Traditional
Most people love Christmas, but not everyone is a super traditional person. There's nothing wrong with wanting to take one of your favorite holidays and add your own spin and personality to it. What better place to start than with the Christmas tree?
If you're a crafty person, or even if you're not, these are simple DIYs to help you design your perfect Christmas tree.
For The Minimalist

This tree is an easy one to make. All you need is a couple of dowels, a drill, and some fishing line. Drill holes and stick the smaller dowels into the bigger ones, then use the fishing line to hang your decorations.
If You Want To Get Festive

Who says the Christmas tree always has to be a pine tree? These people are proving that a cactus is more than up to the challenge. It looks so confident and sure of itself.
Something More Sophisticated

You can use a tree branch as your tree and as an advent calendar. Hang the tree on the wall, and then use string to hang wrapped gifts from the branch.
If You Want Some Glamor

Why not go for some gold? You can buy a tree like this one from craft stores and spray paint it whatever color you like. Grab some lights from the dollar store and there you have it.
Keep It Simple

This one couldn't be easier. Just take a string of lights and arrange them like a tree and use some strong tape to attach them to the wall. If you want, use some foliage to decorate.
Why Stick To Christmas Colors?

These cute and inexpensive to make trees are pretty adorable, and you can probably leave them out all year. You cut some felt into triangles and layer them over a cone and you're all set!
Try Some Trinkets

For people who don't have a lot of space, this is a great alternative. Tape a triangle onto the wall and then fill it with different kinds of Christmas trinkets. When you're done, take the tape off and voila!
Make Use Of A Chalk Wall

If you have a chalk wall in your house, it could be the perfect place to do some Christmas decorating. You can either project designs and trace over it or freehand it.
Got Some Extra Wine Bottles?

No one is going to judge! Use those extra wine bottles and some lights to make a beautiful and glowing Christmas tree. It won't be the only thing merry and bright this holiday season.
Why Not A Little Living Tree?

You can grow a new tree from cuttings from a tree you find outdoors. It's cute, and you can take it outside and plant it somewhere in the spring and use one of its branches next year!
Stay Mess-Free

You can pick up some winter foliage at your local craft store and make something simple and clean. Pair it with some other festive items and you have your tree!
Use What You Find On A Hike

If you live near a wooded area, you can go for a hike and collect some branches. Take them home, clean them up, and glue them together to make your holiday tree.
If You've Got A Green Thumb

Using succulents is a great way to make a tree if you don't have a lot of space to spare. They're pretty low maintenance plants, but make sure you water them every once in a while! You can also use fake ones if you want!
Got A Lot Of Books?

Even if you don't, hit up your local second-hand store and purchase some old books. You can stack them whatever height you like and then garnish as you please! Or don't!
Why Not Make A Useful Tree?

If you're an especially crafty person, you can build a tree that has small spaces on it to hold your gifts. That will keep them off the floor which is handy if you have pets.
Feeling Eco-Friendly?

Trace some branches onto old cardboard and cut out each piece. You can make them the same, or make them different. When you're finished, glue them all together so they make the tree stand up.
Break Away From Tradition

If you want a try at making a tree but don't want your home to be exploding with Christmas, use some fresh flowers! They will only stay nice for a day or two, so make sure you put it up right before you need it.
Reflect On Some Memories

Print out some pictures of your friends and arrange them in your home into the shape of a tree. Add some lights around them and add a star and you have a tree made of angels.
Go For A Sophisticated Look

If you don't want a tree at all but still want to hang some decorations, use a big branch and some craft string to hang the ornaments at different lengths.
Repurpose Something You Already Have

After you bring in all the summer decorations, why not repurpose something from the garden and use it for your tree? Like this plant cage! It looks so cute, right?
